Bob and Marilyn Reach 50

Bob and Marilyn Geil celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 26th.  They were married on a Sunday afternoon, and it so happens that 50 years later, it was again a Sunday afternoon.  We were able to book the Faculty Club at The Ohio State University for the reception, as they had originally met at a mixer in the dormitory under the “horseshoe,” Buckeye football stadium.  They were surrounded by 45 of their closest friends and family.

Early Monday morning, we were able to get a few moments on the OSU football field, which is where they originally met.  Dad dormed in the stadium, and Mom came to a ‘mixer’ in the dorm with a date of her own.  She wasn’t impressed with her beaux, and was quite pleased when Dad called her a few days later, and they went out.  She thought Dad was a nerd, and dumped him after one date.  Fortunately, he wasn’t quite so easy to dissuade.  When they came back to school the next year, he called Mom for another date.  She acquiesced, and this time they hit it off.  The rest, as they say, is history.
